Environment
- Silver Philodendron is a hybrid of the more common green Philodendron, which comes from the tropical regions of South America. They love warm humid weather but not direct sunlight. Direct sunlight is very harmful to this plant. Brown patches or withering is a sign of to much sun or lack of water. To simulate the tropical environments where they are normally found, I usually mist my plants once or twice a day.
Watering
- Like I said earlier withering is a sign that water may be needed. Wait till the top layer of soil is dry, then water thoroughly till you notice water coming out of the bottom. Yellowing of the leaves can mean to much water, or your plant needs a bigger pot to spread its roots!
Propagation
- To propagate this plant cut a piece of a vine at a node. Place the node in a cup of soil. I would not put this plant in water. I've had zero successes with that method. When you have the cutting in the soil, keep the soil moist. But do not let stand in water. Keep it in a warm indirectly lit area, and you should have a new plant in two to three weeks!
